HC Deb 18 March 1907 vol 171 cc440-1
MR. HAYDEN (Roscommon, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state when a sitting of the Land Sub-Commission was held for the Athlone and Ballinasloe rural districts of the County Roscommon; and whether, in view of the fact that numerous cases listed for more than two years are awaiting a hearing, he will see that a sitting for these districts be held without delay.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Land Commission inform me that in last December a list was published containing, with others, all cases from that portion of the district of Athlone situate in county Roscommon in which applications to fix fair rents had been received prior to 1st November. Owing, however, to the unexpectedly prolonged illness of the lay Assistant Commissioner, these cases have not yet been heard, but it is expected that they will be heard at an early date. The last sitting for the hearing of cases arising in the county Roscommon portion of the Ballinasloe district was held on the 5th July, 1906, when the list contained all cases in which applications were lodged prior to 1st May, 1906. The date of the next sitting for this district has not yet been arranged, as there is at present only one case pending.
