HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 c1260

As amended (in the Standing Committee), considered.

Mr. Giles Shaw (Pudsey)

On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker. It was in your hearing, and in the hearing of the Minister, that earlier today, at the end of Question Time, a point of order was raised by my hon. Friend the Member for Faversham (Mr. Moate) concerning the price order for beds which was considered by the Statutory Instruments Committee and found to be incorrect. Mr. Speaker ruled that such an order should no longer be held as viable. Will the Minister ask his right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection to make a statement before the House rises as to the legal position on that instrument?

8 p.m.

The Minister of State, Department of Prices and Consumer Affairs (Mr. John Fraser)

I have not anything to add at present, but I shall try to ensure that inquiries are made about the order relating to beds and seek to say something, if possible, before the House rises.
