Mr. CATHCART WASONasked the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, if he had received a resolution from the county council of Orkney urging that the compulsory payment out of local rates for animals slaughtered under order recently issued would impose a serious burden on the county; and, in view of the fact that the order had been issued in the general interests of the country, would he endeavour to provide some contribution to mitigate the burden imposed by order upon local rates generally?
