HC Deb 13 September 1909 vol 10 c1737
Mr. JOYCE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the estate of Richard W. Smith, at Rebogue, Limerick, has yet been sold to the tenants or whether such sale is pending; and has the claim of Mr. James Ryan, evicted tenant on this estate, been taken into consideration by the Estates Commissioners, with the view of restoring him to his former holding on the completion of sale of this estate?

Mr. CHERRY

No formal proceedings have been instituted by the owner before the Estates Commissioners for the sale of these lands. The Commissioners have had a preliminary inspection made, but the owner is unwilling to sell at their estimated price unless he is assured that he will get a 12 per cent. bonus. As the law at present stands the bonus cannot exceed 3 per cent. Mr. Ryan's application will be considered when the estate comes before the Commissioners to be dealt with.
