HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 cc1996-7
Mr. WEIR

asked the Lord Advocate if he would state how many Peers of Scotland, not being Lords of Parliament, would be eligible for a seat in the House of Commons if the Parliamentary Seats (Peers of Scotland) Bill became law?

Mr. URE

I regret I am not in a position to give my hon. Friend the information he desires.

Mr. WEIR

Are there any who would become eligible if this Bill passed, and, if so, how many?

Mr. URE

I do not know. A number of gentlemen make claims to peerage to which they are not entitled.

Mr. WEIR

I will put down another question.
