HC Deb 29 March 1909 vol 3 c30
Mr. JOHN MURPHY

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether several teachers are being deprived of their fees for extra subjects during the year ended 30th June, 1908, owing to not keeping rolls of such classes for the early part of the year in consequence of the rule as to the same not being issued till September, 1907; and whether, seeing that the work was actually performed by several teachers, he will ask the Commissioners not to penalise them owing to a technicality?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of National Education inform me that fees have not been refused for Irish and mathematics in any case where the special rolls were regularly kept from the date of the issue of the Board's rules for 1907–8 until the end of the past school year, and where all other conditions laid down in the rules were satisfied.
