HC Deb 28 June 1909 vol 7 c31
Mr. MOORE

asked the Chief Secretary if his attention has been drawn to the recent proceedings at the meetings of the Dublin Corporation culminating in disorder and personal assaults; and if, in the interests of the ratepayers, the Local Government Board will proceed by sealed order to prevent the municipal business of the corporation being brought to a deadlock.

Mr. JEREMIAH MacVEAGH

Before the right hon. Gentleman answers that question, may I ask whether his attention has also been called to the scene of disorder last week on the Unionist Benches in this House?

Mr. BIRRELL

In answer to the question on the Paper, I have seen a newspaper report of the proceedings referred to. The Local Government Board have no power to interfere in the matter.
