HC Deb 26 July 1909 vol 8 c854
Mr. WEIR

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that, although the Superannuation Bill makes provision for cash payment on retirement to Civil servants under 60 years of age at the time of the passing of the Act, no such provision is made to Civil servants who happen to be over that age; and will he consider the expediency of making arrangements such as will give Civil servants over 60 years of age at the time of the passing of the Act the option of commuting up to one-sixth of their pension?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I regret that I do not see my way to adopt the hon. Member's, suggestion.
