HC Deb 26 July 1909 vol 8 c854
Mr. JOHN REDMOND

I desire to ask the Prime Minister whether the Irish Land Bill will be taken on Friday?

The PRIME MINISTER

We propose to put the Irish Land Bill down for Friday, and it will be convenient for Irish Members if I state that the further consideration of the Committee stage will then be deferred till the end of August, when we hope to be able to proceed with the Bill de die in diem.

Mr. LONSDALE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that on the last day only one clause was discussed, and two very important clauses were passed without any discussion whatever, and, in view of that fact, does he propose to allot another Friday to the Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am told the-Government were nearly defeated.

Mr. LONSDALE

I wish it had been.

NEW MEMBER SWORN.—Mr. Oswald Partington, for the county of Derbyshire (High Peak Division), after appointment as Junior Lord of the Treasury.
