HC Deb 26 July 1909 vol 8 cc834-5
Mr. O'DOWD

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he could state the number of appeals, under the Old Age Pensions Act, submitted to the Local Government Board by the local subcommittees of county Sligo on the one hand, and the local pension officers on the other, since the Act came into operation; and, if so, whether he will give the aggregate general results in each case?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL for IRELAND (Mr. Cherry)

No appeals have been submitted by any Sligo sub-committee, inasmuch as local sub-committees do not submit appeals to the Local Government Board. The Board cannot give the number of appeals submitted by the Sligo pension officers, as they do not register appeals by counties but enter them in chronological order under the names of the claimants with an alphabetical index.

Mr. O'DOWD

Can the right hon. Gentleman give any information as to the number of appeals lodged by the Pension Officers?

Mr. CHERRY

I think I must ask the hon. Member to put that question down. I really have not the details.
