HC Deb 07 July 1909 vol 7 cc1188-9
Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether he can now make any statement as to the intentions of the Board of Agriculture with regard to the adequate maintenance of the horse supply in the United Kingdom, in view of the steady increase of motor traffic and the consequent discouragement to horse-breeding?

The TREASURER of the HOUSEHOLD (Sir E. Strachey)

As I have previously said, I do not think that it will be possible for me to make any statement on this subject until the proposals of the Government with regard to agricultural development have been considered by the House.
