HC Deb 19 August 1909 vol 9 cc1512-3
Mr. HODGE

asked the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been drawn to the refusal of the education authority of Hyde to again put the Education (Provision of Meals) Act into operation, although a town's meeting decided in favour of this course; and whether he can take any, and, if so, what, action in the matter?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Runciman)

It rests with the local education authority to decide whether they will avail themselves of the provisions of the Act referred to. In the event of the authority deciding to take no action, the Board of Education are not empowered to intervene.
