HC Deb 01 April 1909 vol 3 c483
Mr. ROWLANDS

asked the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether an inquiry was held on 21st January by the Kent County Council into the application of the Orpington parish council for land for allotments; and, if so, whether, as a result, the Board of Agriculture had received any schemes for their sanction for the provision of such allotments?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hobhouse)

At the inquiry to which my hon. Friend refers it was arranged that the chairman of the sub-committee of the county council should negotiate with the owner of the land which is required by the parish council. If a satisfactory settlement cannot be made in this manner, the county council will consider at their next meeting what steps they will take in order that the demand may be satisfied.
