HC Deb 26 May 1908 vol 189 cc925-6
SIR JOHN BENN (Devonport)

To ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether his attention has been called to the case of Edward Dennis, late established hammerman, Devonport Dockyard, who has recently been invalided from the service as the result of an operation last November in the Royal Naval Hospital, necessitated by an injury sustained in the course of his employment; whether he is aware that the man's power to contribute to his own support is now totally destroyed; and whether, in view of this fact, he will have the case reconsidered and adequate compensation awarded.

(Answered by Mr. McKenna.) When examined in February last, Edward Dennis was found to be suffering from symptoms not attributable to the injury sustained in the course of his employment, and of quite recent date. It is not, therefore, possible to increase the compensation already given to the man.
