§ COLONEL MCCALMONTTo ask the Secretary of State for War whether he has received any communications in regard to Carrickfergus Harbour, adjoining roads, etc., and its claims for financial aid from the Govermnent; 1313 and whether he can favourably consider such claims.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane). I have received a communication from the hon. and gallant Member on this subject. The Army Council, after giving the matter full consideration, are of opinion that the circumstances of the case do not justify a departure from the general principle which precludes contributions from Army funds for harbour purposes.
