§ MR. COURTHOPE (Sussex, Rye)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether a sergeant instructor will be provided for each outlaying company of the Territorial Infantry, as in the case of the Volunteers.
§ MR. ACLANDIt is not intended to grant a sergeant instructor to each outlying company as such. If it is considered by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief that a particular company is stationed at such a distance from headquarters or from another company that an additional instructor is necessary, such instructor will be granted subject to the approval of the Army Council. Instructions to this effect are being issued to General Officers Commanding. There was no rule in the Volunteers that each outlying company should have a sergeant instructor.
