HC Deb 25 March 1908 vol 186 cc1398-9
MR. O'DOWD (Sligo, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners have received an application from Richard Foy, formerly of Mayo, but now of Sligo, who claims reinstatement in the farm from which his father, Richard Foy, was evicted, and which farm is situate in the townland of Ballinaraw, near Bunninadden, Ballymote, County Sligo; and whether, as this tenant was capriciously evicted without compensation, and in view of the many other circumstances surrounding the eviction, the Estates Commissioners will take action with the view of having these orphans either reinstated in the old place or else provided with a farm equally good.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners have received and inquired into the application in question, and have decided that the applicant is a fit person to be provided with a holding if one can be found for him. The holding formerly occupied by the evicted tenant is in the occupation of another tenant.
