HC Deb 25 March 1908 vol 186 cc1397-8
MR. FLYNN (Cork, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, in regard to the case of Mrs. Ellen O'Shaughnessy, whose late husband was evicted from his farm at Kilbraher, Dromina, Charleville, negotiations were opened by the Estates Commissioners over two years ago with a view to her reinstatement; whether Colonel Orpin, the landlord, and the present occupier, Timothy Griffin, are willing to hand over this farm to Mrs. O'Shaughnessy on condition that Griffin is provided with another suitable holding; whether he is aware that the Commissioners stated last year that they were engaged in trying to procure such suitable holding for Griffin; and whether he will now state what steps, if any, they have taken within the past year to bring about the desired result.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners are still negotiating with Timothy Griffin with the object of providing him with a holding in lieu of the farm at present in his occupation, in order that the latter may be given to Mrs. O'Shaughnessy.
