HC Deb 19 March 1908 vol 186 c777
MR. MORTON (Sutherland)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, whether the Metropolitan police stations have yet been connected with the general telephone system; and, if so, what has been the effect?

MR. GLADSTONE

Fifty-nine Metropolitan police stations out of a total of 192, or 30.7 per cent., are connected with the public telephone system. 123 stations, or 64 per cent., are connected by the police telephone system. The additional facilities of communication thus provided have proved an advantage to police work. I am just adding fifty-eight out-lying divisional stations to the number.
