HC Deb 09 March 1908 vol 185 c1094
SIR WILLIAM BULL (Hammersmith)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury, whether, in view of the advice the Treasury has received as to the Walker Trustees' claims, the Government will take measures to protect the baronets and knights from whom these fees have been demanded under a threat of legal proceedings, and apply for a return of the amounts paid by certain of them under a misapprehension of the true facts of the case.

(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) I am not aware of any measures which the Government can take to protect baronets and knights from the demands of the Walker Trustees, but I have not heard that any legal proceedings have yet been taken. I see no ground on which I could apply to the Trustees for a return of fees paid to them, whether under a misapprehension or otherwise.
