HC Deb 17 February 1908 vol 184 cc404-5
MR. FIELD (Dublin, St. Patrick)

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether the chief administrative officer in Ireland of the Army Ordnance Department has ordered confidential registers to be kept of correspondence relating to certain matters of expenditure and personnel; and, if so, can he state the number of files of such correspondence so registered, and with what object this is being done.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) Confidential registers are kept by this officer as by other officers in charge of departments. I do not think it would serve any useful purpose if I were to accede to the hon. Member's request.
