To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether applications for the position of county surveyor in Meath and Galway East are to be sent in the first instance to the Local Government Board or to the county councils.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) In each of these cases the county council gave directions that applications for the position of county surveyor should be sent in the first instance to the county council.
