HC Deb 13 May 1907 vol 174 cc597-8
MR. DUFFY (Galway, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware of the growing feeling of dissatisfaction which exists amongst the pensioners of the Royal Irish Constabulary in regard to the condition of the Constabulary Force Fund; and whether he is prepared to receive a deputation from the Constabulary Pensioners' Association, in order that they might explain fully the justice of their claim to have the fund wound up.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) I beg to refer to the Answer which I gave to the hon. Member's Question on this subject on the 9th instant.† I have since written to the Constabulary Pensioners' Association explaining at length the reason why no more summary method of winding up this fund can be adopted than that of meeting its obligations to widows and orphans of subscribers as they arise, and expressing my inability to accede to their request that I should receive a deputation on the subject.
