MR. VINCENT KENNEDY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether there is any regulation dealing with the constitution of a court of petty sessions in Ireland as to who should take the chair during the sittings of the court; and is the resident, magistrate, if present, entitled as of right to preside.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Answer to both parts of the Question is in the negative. If the hon. Member will refer to the Answer which I gave on April 18th to the Question put by the hon. Member for Mid Cork he will find a full statement on the matter. ‡ †See (4) Debates, clxxiv., 348. ‡ See (4) Debates, clxxli., 1112.
