§ THE FIRST COMMISSIONER OF WORKS (Mr. HARCOURT, Lancashire, Rossendale)The work for the Queen Victoria Memorial is not under the charge of any Government Department, but is carried out by the Committee appointed to dispose of the fund which 1239 was raised by national subscription. I understand that marble which is being quarried for the purpose at Carrara is being prepared by the workmen on the spot before it is shipped to England.
