HC Deb 27 November 1906 vol 165 c1399
SIR WALTER FOSTER (Derbyshire, Ilkeston)

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any legislation under consideration in reference to child insurance and child mortality will also deal with the subject of death certification generally, on the lines recommended in the Report of the Select Committee of 1893.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Gladstone.) I fear I am not in a position to make any statement with regard to legislation of the kind referred to by my right hon. friend, but I doubt whether the subject of death certification generally would be germane to a Bill whose object was to place restrictions on child insurance. I understand, however, that my right hon. friend the President of the Local Government Board thinks that such a Bill might properly deal with the registration of still-born children.
