HC Deb 08 May 1906 vol 156 cc1142-3
SIR ROBERT HOBART (Hampshire, New Forest)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the fact that the subpostmastership of Winton, Bournemouth, is now vacant, and in consideration of the large amount of work performed at that office, he will consider the question of putting it on the head office scale of the establishment; and if he will state what are the emoluments of the position, and how many applications have been received for the vacancy.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton) It is considered that the circumstances do not at present justify the post office at Winton, Bournemouth, being constituted a salaried sub-office. According to the latest returns the gross emoluments attaching to the sub-postmastership will be about£237 a year. Up to the present time two applications for the sub-postmastership have reached me.
