HC Deb 12 March 1906 vol 153 cc929-30
MR. STANGER (Kensington, N.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been drawn to the defective ventilation in the Savings Bank Department at Kensington; and whether he has made inquiries into the matter.

MR. SYDNEY BUXTON

My attention has been drawn to this matter. In view of the statement made by the Press in regard to defective ventilation, the First Commissioner of Works at once instituted an inquiry into the matter. The result of the inquiry shows that the statement is without foundation. I have personally visited the building and the ventilation appears to me excellent. I may add that the average of sick absences in the Sayings Bank Buildings is lower than in any other branch of the Post Office.
