HC Deb 16 July 1906 vol 160 c1307
MR. DUFFY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners propose to enlarge the holdings on the Roo estate, annuitants to the Government, near Gort, county Galway, out of the un-tenanted lands purchased from Mr. Shawe-Taylor.

(Answered by Mr. Bryce.) The Estates Commissioners inform me that the townland of Roo does not appear to be on the estate of Mr. Shawe-Taylor, but on that of Mrs. A. C. Maxwell, the un-tenanted land upon which has already been divided. The Commissioners have not yet received from their inspector the proposed scheme for the division of un-tenanted land on the Shawe-Taylor estate, and until this scheme has been received and considered the Commissioners are not in a position to say whether land will be available for persons other than the tenants on the estate.
