SIR THOMAS DEWAE (Tower Hamlets, St. Georgo's)To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will consider the desirability of appointing a Committee to inquire into the expediency of prohibiting the issue of currency notes of a less value than £5, especially taking into consideration that a paper currency of so low a denomination as that common to Scotland and Ireland may constitute a medium for the dissemination of disease.
(Answered by Mr. Austen Chamberlain.) I am not aware of any necessity for the appointment of a Committee on this subject.
