HC Deb 25 July 1905 vol 150 cc178-9
LIEUT-COLONELPRYCE-JONES (Montgomery Boroughs)

To ask the Secretary to the Board of Education whether he is aware that, notwithstanding the Board's letter of 15th July, the Montgomeryshire Local Education Authority are still refusing to pay the salaries of teachers in voluntary schools within their area which have for some time past been due for the quarter ending 30th June last; and, in view of this refusal, what steps the Board are taking to prevent continued hardship to the teachers concerned.

(Answered by Sir William Anson.) The Board are in communication with managers of voluntary schools on the subject. In four cases the Board have today repaid to managers sums properly expended by them in paying the salaries in question, and others will probably be paid very shortly.
