To ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will state the number of assaults and murders committed in India on white people by natives, as shown in the police reports, during each year of the last five years; and what has been done to identify and punish the native offenders.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Brodrick.) There are no statistics at my disposal from which the figures asked for by my hon. and gallant friend could be supplied. The class of cases to which the Question refers are not separately recorded, but I will ascertain if any more general statistics can be supplied.
