HC Deb 27 February 1905 vol 141 c1322
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord-Advocate, as representing the Secretary for Scotland, whether the Local Government Board have yet considered the expediency of increasing the number of medical officers of health for the Highland Crofting Counties and re-arranging the area under their respective control.

MR. SCOTT DICKSON

The Local Government Board has long advocated the appointment of a separate medical officer for the Islands pertaining to the counties of Inverness and Ross, and have reason to believe that the proposal is favourably regarded by the county councils concerned. The views of the Local Government Board regarding the Poor Law Medical Relief in the Highlands and Islands at large are fully set forth in the Report of the Board's Departmental Committee issued a year ago, to which I would refer the hon. Member.
