HC Deb 05 May 1904 vol 134 cc543-4
MR. WILLIAM McKILLOP (Sligo, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state the probable increase in the number of King's scholars in the training colleges of De La Salle and St. Patrick's under the increased grants now proposed for these institutions.

MR. WYNDHAM

Applications are before Government for an increase from 150 to 200 in the case of the De la Salle College at Waterford, and from 156 to 200 in the case of Our Lady of Mercy College at Blackrock. No similar application has been received from St. Patrick's College. The annual sum of £5,000 provided in the Development Grant Estimate for training colleges under private management will meet the cost of fifty additional male and sixty-nine female King's scholars.
