HC Deb 05 May 1904 vol 134 c531
SIR THOMAS ESMONDE (Wexford, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he has received any communication from the County Wexford United Agricultural Society with reference to the sale of foreign spirit as Irish whisky; and whether the Government proposes to take any steps in the matter.

(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) I have received a communication of the nature referred to. The matter is engaging the attention of the Department of Agriculture, which will take such action as may appear to he required in order to protect, as far as possible, the interests of Irish growers of cereals used in the production of genuine Irish whisky.
