§ *SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)I beg to ask the 577 President of the Board of Trade whether there exist any Papers showing the extent of the adoption of any metric system in the United States; and, if not, whether, with a view to the consideration of any measure upon the subject which may reach the House in the latter part of the present session, he will move the Foreign Office to cause a Return to be prepared and laid before Parliament, giving recent information upon the subject.
