HC Deb 27 June 1904 vol 136 cc1260-1
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland on what grounds the Loan Fund Board for Ireland refused to pay the dividend on shares in the Edgeworthstown Loan Fund Society held by William and Ellen McDermott, of Tinnyar, who hold two debentures in the society. I beg, also, to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that James Cullen, of Kilcoursey, and Michael Kerrigan, of Clonwhelan, invested their savings in the Edgeworthstown Loan Fund Society, and lost them on the breakdown of this society; and whether he can state the grounds upon which their application for a share of the assets realised by the receiver has not been attended to; and will he direct that same be now paid.

MR. WYNDHAM

The Board has not refused to pay; but as the title of the applicants is not free from doubt it has referred the claims to counsel for legal opinion.
