To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the death of Patrick Flood, who was recently electrocuted on the Southport Railway through stepping on a live rail; whether he will grant a

between the duty when the unmanufactured tobacco is imported in leaf, and the duty when it is imported in strips.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) The following statement gives the tariff classification and rates of import duty on unmanufactured tobacco in the countries and Colonies mentioned:—

Return of the number of accidents which have happened up to the present time of a similar nature; and what steps does he propose to take in order to prevent the happening of such accidents.

(Answered by Mr. Gerald Balfour.) A report of the accident has been rendered by the railway company. Two fatal and two non-fatal accidents of this character have occurred on the railway mentioned. The sufferers in each case were trespassers on the line. I have ordered an inquiry into the causes of the accident.
