HC Deb 02 August 1904 vol 139 cc515-6
SIR WALTER FOSTER (Derbyshire, Ilkeston)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he will grant a Return of the death rates and infant mortality of the London unions and of the unions of Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and Bristol, with information as to the ratio of indoor and outdoor pauperism to the population, and the total cost of Poor Law relief in these unions per head of population.

(Answered by Mr. Walter Long.) I am willing to give a Return of the kind indicated by the hon. Member. I do not gather, however, for what period the information is desired and, perhaps, the hon. Member will send me the draft of a Notice of Motion, indicating more precisely what he wishes on this point. I shall then be happy to consider its terms before it is put down.
