HC Deb 11 May 1903 vol 122 cc306-7
MR. REDDY (King's Co., Birr)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that a system of police supervision is still practised in connection with the meetings of the United Irish League at Birr; and whether, seeing that such proceedings have been discontinued in other parts of Ireland, he will direct their discontinuance at Birr also.

MR. ATKINSON

The question is founded on a misapprehension. The supervision exercised at Birr merely consists in this, that the police direct their attention to matters which they consider to be of general interest. No change has been made in the police arrangements in this respect in other parts of Ireland.
