HC Deb 11 May 1903 vol 122 c306
MR. WILLIAM REDMOND (Clare, E.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he will explain why Mr. John Galvin, of Kilnamona, County Clare, has been refused a gun licence.

MR. ATKINSON

The father of the applicant is licensed to carry a gun on his farm, a small one containing about eight acres of tillage. The resident magistrate, as licensing officer, considers that one gun is ample to protect the farm from birds and vermin, and in the exercise of the discretion vested in him by law has refused to grant a licence to John Galvin.
