MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, as representing the Secretary for Scotland, whether the Congested Districts Board have received a memorial from the cottars and fishermen of Tobson, Bernera, Island of Lewis, urging that the Board should acquire Croir Farm for their occupation at fair rentals; and will a member of the Crofters' Commission be sent to the district to inquire into and report on the cause of the land agitation and unrest among the people of Bernera, Island of Lewis.

*THE SOLICITOR GENERAL FOR SCOTLAND (Mr. DICKSON, Glasgow, Bridgeton)

The answer to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. Such steps will be taken as from time to time the Secretary for Scotland thinks expedient.
