HC Deb 02 May 1901 vol 93 c408
MR. W. F. D. SMITH (Westminster)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he will consider the possibility of so far varying the conditions attached to the payment of non-commissioned officers and men of the Imperial Yeomanry, under Article 7 of the Royal Warrant recently issued, as to allow commanding officers to recommend for payment men who are unavoidably called away from permanent duty, on the understanding that such payment shall only be given for the days actually spent in camp, and that horse allowance shall be forfeited unless the man's horse remains for service with the regiment until the end of permanent duty.

MR. BRODRICK

Under Article 18 of the Warrant referred to the general officer commanding has power in exceptional circumstances to allow the payments in question.
