HC Deb 29 April 1901 vol 93 cc65-6
MR. DILLON

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that, on the 15th November, 1899, an application was made to the Aghalee District Council (county Antrim) to have a number of labourers' cottages erected, and that the scheme was passed by the council on the 21st November. 1900; and can he explain why the building of the cottages has not yet been commenced; and what is the amount of the yearly grant to the county Antrim for the building of labourers' cottages; and how much is now lying to the credit of the county for this purpose.

MR. WYNDHAM

The scheme of the district council was sent to the Local Government Board for approval, but in an incomplete form, on the 16th February. It was duly completed on the 29th March. A local inquiry will be held with the least possible delay. The answer to the second paragraph is, £2,460 and £9,855 respectively.
