asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the earliest date upon which he expects to introduce legislation reforming the compensation code.

Mr. Peter Walker

We are pressing on as quickly as possible with our review of the compensation code and planning blight. I have promised to make a statement when this review is completed.

Mrs. Kellett

Is my right hon. Friend aware that that answer will give comfort to many of those who feel that they are threatened with a raw deal and are anxiously awaiting the proposals my right hon. Friend will make?

Mr. Walker

I realise that this is a subject causing considerable concern in many parts of the country, including my hon. Friend's constituency. We shall publish the legislation as soon as possible.
