§ 47. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter
asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance he has given to the two citizens of the Royal Borough of Kingston-upon-Thames who have been detained by the Belgian authorities since their aircraft landed in Belgium at the beginning of December, 1969; whether they have been visited in 31 gaol by an officer of his Department; and when it is expected they will be brought to trial.
§ Mr. Foley
The two British subjects have been given all normal consular assistance. They were visited by the British Consul on 13th December and again on 22nd January. A trial on the exclusively customs charges started on 26th January but at the request of the prosecution it was adjourned until today. Other charges are pending.
