§ Mr. Joseph SlaterTo reduce costs. This concentration of work on Catford is part of a wider scheme to reduce sorting work at a large number of offices in London.
§ Mr. HamlingIs my hon. Friend aware that there is some dissatisfaction with the loss of service caused by this change? How much saving has been effected?
§ Mr. SlaterThe saving is£10,000 a year. The action which we have taken 445 has not worsened the service. In accordance with the policy announced by my right hon. Friend in August last year, in order to reduce costs and save manpower, a number of deliveries and collections in Eltham were reduced in May of this year.
