HC Deb 15 February 1966 vol 724 cc1103-4
32. Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

asked the Minister of Technology what discussions he has had on the need for an extension of management education in the introduction of new techniques into British industry.

Mr. Marsh

My right hon. Friend has had no formal discussions on this matter, but many of the activities of his Department are directed towards improving management efficiency and the introduction of new techniques.

Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

In what sectors of industry has the Minister direct responsibility for management education?

Mr. Marsh

The prime position of management education is that this will be mainly dealt with under the Industrial Training Act. There is an inter-departmental committee, of which I am chairman, covering the whole range of training, and recently the Central Training Council established under the Industrial Training Act issued a statement to the effect that it had set up a specific Committee to look at this one problem of management education, which the Government regard as very important.
