HC Deb 15 February 1966 vol 724 c1103
31. Dr. Wyndham Davies

asked the Minister of Technology what plans his Department has for stimulating the technology of underwater engineering projects.

Mr. Marsh

The Atomic Energy Authority and the appropriate research stations in the Department are keeping in touch with the technological problems and possibilities.

Dr. Davies

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that there are great developments going on in underwater technology and engineering which could be of the utmost benefit to the shipbuilding industry and engineering industries?

Mr. Marsh

I certainly accept that. There are a number of other bodies as well as this Ministry involved in this matter. In addition to the Ministry's stations—the Ship Division of the N.P.L. and the Hydraulics Research Station at Wallingford—there are Government centres outside the Ministry with an interest in this technology, particularly the National Institute of Oceanography and the Admiralty.
