HC Deb 25 January 1961 vol 633 cc151-2
31. Mr. Birch

asked the Minister of Transport what is being done to improve trunk road communications in North Wales.

Mr. Hay

Work on the Queensferry bypass, which will remove the chief bottleneck on the main access route to North Wales, commenced last July. Consulting engineers have been appointed to prepare a scheme for a flyover at Llandudno Junction. Work has lately been completed on the improvements between Portmadoc and Trawsfynydd. This road gives access to the nuclear power station, and also serves tourist and other traffic in the area. Work is in progress on nineteen smaller schemes at a total cost of £340,000, and further improvements are in preparation.
